-I've had too many friends yanked off their feet by a dog. I don't trust break-away clasps. So I made a handle with an oversized opening. Keep your hand closed and it can wrangle a 250lb dog, or tow a one ton vehicle on smooth level ground. Open your hand and it simply slides free. Dog runs off dragging the leash, you remain in place, bones remain unbroken.

Well, once I was satisfied with the handle, I had to make an equally sturdy lead. Heavy duty carabiners, double 550 core and sheath. It will hold a 250lb lunging dog. Well, then I had to make a matching adjustable collar (with a little extra bling.). Although, IMO for a large, forceful dog, a full harness is a better idea. (No, I'm not going to make a harness. It needs to be custom sized, or fully adjustable.) For a less forceful dog; the matching collar should be fine.
